Why is transparent PP so popular in the market?
Polypropylene (PP) has excellent characteristics such as good mechanical properties, low relative density, heat resistance, chemical resistance, easy processing and molding, and high performance-price ratio, and has become an active variety among the five general synthetic resins with fast growth rate and new product development.
However, because PP belongs to a partial crystalline resin, under the usual processing conditions, the crystallization speed is relatively slow, easy to form larger spherical crystals, the easy crystallization of PP makes the gloss and transparency of its products deteriorate, and the appearance lacks beauty, thus limiting its application. To this end, in the past two decades, many Western countries have successively carried out the research and development of highly transparent polypropylene materials, and have successively realized commercialization.
After transparent modification of PP, the spherical crystal structure is uniformly refined, and the transparency and gloss are significantly improved, which not only inherits the advantages of ordinary PP, but also effectively improves its crystallization temperature, Vicat softening point, rigidity and other mechanical properties, and can even be comparable to some other transparent resins such as PS, PET, PVC, PC, etc. The performance-price ratio is better than PET, PVC, PS, PC, so since its inception in the early eighties of the last century, it has developed rapidly around the world, and has been widely used in transparent packaging, medical devices, daily necessities and many other fields.
